The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Saturday February 25th 2023 as the day for presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria.
According to INEC, governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections will hold on March 11, 2023.
The Chairman of the commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu made the disclosure on Saturday at a news conference held in Abuja.
INEC announced the new dates for the 2023 elections, following the signing of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.
Yakubu explained that the new date is to allow for conformity with the provisions of the Electoral laws which stipulates that elections notice be published at least 260 days to the elections
The INEC boss also said the Electoral guidelines will also be published in due course.
