Barely twenty four hours after the announcement of Dr. Maryam Ismaila Keshinro, as federal permanent secretary, representing Zamfara state, the social media instantly became agog with controversy over her state of Origin.

While a sizeable number said the woman hails from Tsafe local government area of the state, but married to a southerner, others vehemently disagreed, saying ‘Keshinro’ is not a name known with the Zamfara people, and by extension not an Hausa name.

The debate is trending and has polarized the people along those who have insisted she is not an indigene but took the slot of the state and others who have called for caution, saying she is an indigene but married a Yoruba man, hence the name ‘Keshinro’.

Indeed, those who claim to know her said until her appointment, Maryam worked at the state house clinic in Abuja.

Meanwhile, as controversy continue to trail the appointment, the Zamfara state government has not reacted to the matter as at the time of this report.
