Nigeria’s House of Representatives on Tuesday considered the suspension of plenary for two weeks to enable lawmakers take the awareness campaign on the ragging coronavirus pandemic to their respective constituents.
Pending a resolution on the date of plenary suspension by the leadership of the House, the House urged the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture to intensify campaign on the disease to keep Nigerians abreast with issues concerning the virus.
The House also called on the leadership of the National Assembly to constitute an ad hoc committee that would interface with relevant health agencies to contend the outbreak.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the official spokesman of the House, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, and made available of SINL Nigeria News on Wednesday.
As of today, Nigeria has only a single confirmed case of coronavirus. The case was confirmed by the Federal Ministry of Health on February 27, 2020, from an Italian citizen who returned back to Nigeria from Milan, Italy on February 25, 2020.
