The House of Representatives Minority Caucus has expressed sadness over the demise of Ghali Umar Na’Abba, the 8th Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The caucus said Na’Abba contributions to the nation were invaluable, and his legacy as a courageous statesman and dedicated public servant will forever be etched in the annals of our democratic history.
“Our hearts go out to his family, the good people of Kano State and our beloved Nation”.
A statement on Wednesday signed by Honourable Kingsley Chinda, Minority Leader of House of Representatives said Na’Abba’s leadership was marked by a commitment to the principles of democracy, transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.
“His tireless efforts in advancing the interests of the Nigerian people were evident throughout his tenure. He also fought all forms of interference in legislative functions, leaving an indelible impact on the institution he served with distinction”.
The caucus added “As we mourn the loss of a visionary leader, let us also celebrate the enduring spirit of service (and dedication that) Speaker Na’Abba embodied. May his family find solace in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to inspire generations of public servants to come.
“In this moment of grief, let us unite in honouring the memory of Ghali Umar Na’Abba and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals that he so passionately championed.
“One amongst several people-oriented actions of Gali Na’Abba was the passage of the NDDC Act by veto even where he had a President of the same political party with him”.
