The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on all actors in the disagreement in Rivers State to sheathe their swords and allow for peaceful and amicable resolution of all the issues.

The NWC urged all PDP members and supporters to be calm and assured that it has commenced processes, using the Party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms to ensure that all matters and areas of disagreement are addressed, a statement signed by Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of PDP said.

The NWC therefore charged all leaders, critical stakeholders and members of “our great Party in Rivers State to close ranks, unite and focus on the onerous task of governance and delivery of dividends of democracy to the people”.

It would be recalled that moves by 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara resulted in turbulence in the state on Monday, as the governor’s loyalists stormed the assembly complex in protest against the plot.

This followed the bombing of the state House of Assembly located along Moscow Road in Port Harcourt by suspected arsonists on Sunday.

A section of the chamber was damaged, and some properties were destroyed.
