Senator Yari tasks government on clean, portable water

Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari has reiterated that it is the responsibility of government to provide clean and portable water to Nigerians, saying the Senate is going to work closely with the executive to achieve the target.

Yari, who is the chairman of senate committee on water resources spoke on Wednesday at a meeting with members of the committee held in Abuja.

The former governor of Zamfara state, who represents, Zamfara West at the 10th senate eulogised members of the committee, noting that the upper legislative chamber has “chosen the right people to work in the committee.

The lawmaker explained that the Wednesday meeting was an interactive session, saying inaugural meeting of the committee will be held soon.

He said “the committee on water resources has 16 MDAs spread across the 6 geopolitical zones.

“We are fortunate by the spread of MDAs, we need to look at our dams to see how best we can bring them to standard and improve them.

“This committee has a lot of work to do and I hope we will give our time for the development of our people” Yari told the committee members.
