Suspected killer of daughter of Afenifere leader fails escape bid from hospital

Soldiers and police have been drafted to  the Infectious Disease Hospital, Akure,  Ondo State,  to prevent  suspected killer of Mrs Funke Olakunri,  daughter of Afenifere  leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, from escaping, the PUNCH reports.

Adamu, who was arrested and arraigned before an Akure  Magistrates’ Court  over  Olakunri’s killing, reportedly tested positive  for  coronavirus.

He has been receiving treatment at the IDH.

It was learnt  that the accused allegedly made attempts to escape but was stopped by the  security officials deployed at the hospital.

It was learnt that the development  led to an increased police and military  presence  at the health facility.

A source said, “The man (suspect) has made several attempts by deploying various tactics to escape from the hospital. It was the timely intervention of the police that prevented his latest attempt to escape.

“Whenever Adamu goes to the toilet he spends long hours.”

The source added that  Adamu had been chained to his bed and  being closely monitored.

Spokesman for the police in the state,  Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed that security had been beefed up at the hospital to prevent the suspect from escaping.
