The timely and transparent approach adopted by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), in disbursing funds to all the State pilgrims’ welfare Agencies and Boards for onward refund to pilgrims who participated in the 2023 hajj, as compensation for services that were either poorly rendered or not served at all by the Saudi service providers at Muna and Arafat respectively, is something that the commission should be applauded for.

Indeed, the robust step taken by NAHCON for prompt release of the funds, where every 2023 pilgrim that was affected will have his or her bank account credited with SR150 equivalent to (N61,080) in due course, through his state pilgrims’ board, definitely deserves encomiums and laudation particularly from citizens who keenly follow and observe the trends and happenings in the Nigerian hajj industry.

Furthermore, the NAHCON Chairman in person of Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman Pakistan, has proved critics wrong with regard to honestly, integrity, competence and above all outright transparency in steering the affairs of the apex hajj body in the country.

However, the ball is now in the courts of the various state pilgrims’ Boards or Agencies as the case may be to ensure prompt and adequate refund to all the pilgrims of 2023 hajj season, that were affected.
