Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka has revealed that the United States of America has stopped his entry into the US.
Professor Soyinka spoke during a meeting with journalists at Kongi’s Harvest Gallery, Freedom Park, Lagos Island on Tuesday.
He said the US consulate informed him of the revocation in a letter dated October 23rd, 2025.
“It is necessary for me to hold this conference so that people in the United States who are expecting me for this event or that event do not waste their time. I have no visa; I am banned, obviously, from the United States. And if you want to see me, you know where to find me,” he said.
He however expressed surprise and confusion over the decision, adding that he was unaware of any wrongdoing that could have led to the revocation.
According to the noble laureate, the action is linked to his criticism of the US President Donald Trump and his policies.
