The Zamfara state chapter of the All progressive Congress (APC) has declared that it will not participate in tomorrow’s bye election re-run in the state.
The party made its position known at a press conference Tuesday evening, held at the state party Secretariat in Gusau.
Chairman Publicity Committee of APC, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Birnin Magaji said the decision followed refusal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address issues at stake.
“APC shortly after stakeholders meeting decided to pull out of the election following intimidation, harrasment, maiming and large scale violence”.
According to him, the grey areas that were not addressed include snatching of ballot boxes, kidnapped electoral officials and killing of innocent people allegedly by members of ruling PDP, their hired security agencies and thugs.
He called on APC members in Bakura local government council, and the people of the 14 affected polling units where the exercise will hold tomorrow to stay away from the scheduled bye election re-run.
