The Zamfara State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Mohammed Dauran has raised the alarm, saying enemies of progress want to destabilize peace process in the state.
Specifically, the commissioner described as malicious the recent story published by Sahara reporters online news medium alleging that the State Government procured Hilux Van to repentant bandits.
Reacting to the Sahara reporters story at a press conference held Tuesday evening in Gusau, Dauran said it was evident that Zamfara is the only state that procured over 200 operational vehicles and donated it to security agencies to ease their operations and curtail insecurity bedeviling the state.
He said it would be mischievous for a media outfit to allege that the same government that procured these number of vehicles to security agencies can also donate vehicles to bandits.
“We have made inquiries and to the best of our findings there is no soldier operating in Zamfara State that spoke with Sahara reporters or any media outlet and as such we consider the story by Sahara reporters as malicious and politically motivated”.
Acccording to the commissioner, Sahara reporters is only dancing to the tune of the political opposition who are desperate to see that peace did not return to Zamfara state.
“This is arm chair journalism and we would take necessary action against the saboteurs” Dauran said.
