The Zamfara State Government has directed the Ministry of Religious Affairs to visit Morocco in order to study the model and approach used in transforming traditional Tsangaya schools into modern educational institutions, ranging from primary to secondary and even tertiary levels.
This development was disclosed by the Hon. Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Hon. Sulaiman Adamu Gummi, who was represented by the permanent Secretary, Garba Altine Dauran, during a weekly preaching session held in Gusau, the State capital.
This was contained in a statement issued by the public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Comrade Jamilu Bello and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital.
According to the statement, he emphasized that the visit is part of the government’s broader efforts to reform the Tsangaya education system and integrate it into the mainstream modern education framework, while still preserving its Islamic heritage .
According to the Commissioner, the government is committed to improving the quality of education in Zamfara State and ensuring that children attending Tsangaya schools are not left behind in terms of academic and career opportunities.
