Zamfara State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Alhaji Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi has formally inaugurated a ministerial Committee for Comprehensive Youth Infrastructure Enhancement in the State.
In his inaugural remarks, the Commissioner stated that the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal is dedicated to youth development, saying the establishment of the Committee highlighted the importance it placed on provision of tangible opportunities and infrastructure for the youth.
He declared that the committee’s mandate is to supervise and monitor the execution of capital projects related to youth infrastructure for which the State Ministry of Youths and Sports Development is a client.
According to a statement by the information officer of the ministry, Suleman Aliyu, the commissioner declared that the Committee will be empowered with a mandate that applies to all projects currently undertaken and those to be embarked upon in the future under the Ministry.
He therefore emphasized the need for the Committee to approach its responsibilities collectively devoid of personal interests that may hinder shared objectives.
The Commissioner stated that the success of the Committee’s initial undertaking shall serve as a benchmark for its capability to ensure efficient execution of upcoming projects.
He reiterated that committee’s members are equal stakeholders in the discharge of assignments, adding that an environment of respect, collaboration and open communication must be upheld.
He stressed that, “transparency, accountability and appropriate use of resources should be the bedrock of your endeavour.”
Alhaji Tasi’u Musa further explained that, the Committee’s role goes beyond oversight, stressing that it extends to the careful supervision of every aspect of the project components.
He therefore implored them to ensure that the contractor does not compromise standards and that the state derives maximum benefits and advantages in executing the projects.
