Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has rejected N100,000 bribe, arraigned 9 suspects before the sharia court in Gusau for alleged stealing of 70 drums of water treatment chemicals in the state.
The intercepted water treatment chemicals worth millions of Naira suspected to be stolen were aprehended by NSCDC on 5th of May 2023 in the state.
Briefing newsmen on Thursday at the NSCDC State headquarters in Gusau, state capital, the commandant, Mohammed Bello Mu’azu explained that the Command acted on intelligence reports and intercepted the alleged stolen chemicals.
“The suspects bribed our men with one hundred thousand Naira which they rejected and denied them permit to pass, there and than intercepted the vehicle conveying the 70 drums of the chemicals”.
“I invited the state Commissioner for water and other management staff of Water Board which they responded to the call and informed the Command that the suspects were from the State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RUWASA)”.
The Commandant further stated that he had invited the management team of the RUWASA to answer questions about the suspected chemicals and those involved were charged to upper sharia court samaru for prosecution.
“We had arraigned 9 suspects before the upper sharia court samaru Gusau, however 3 suspects are at large” he said.
