Zamfara NUJ to partner security agencies to tackle unauthorised use of union’s sticker

Determined to enhance sanity in the council, the Zamfara state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has banned uaunthorised use of the union sticker by non members.


Indeed, the council has sought for the support of security agencies in the state to enforce the law.


Rising from its regular state executive council meeting (SEC) on Thursday, the council urged members to be guided by the ethics of the professional, even as the union enjoined them to be dedicated to their work.


In a communique jointly signed by the chairman, Abdulrazak Bello Kaura and Secretary, Abubakar Ahmed and made available to SINL Nigeria Online said; “That non members of the union should henceforth desist from using the NUJ official sticker under any guise.


“That security agencies should as usual support the union in ensuring that only journalists with their official organization’s or NUJ National Identity card should be allowed usage of the sticker.

“The union joins the state government, security agencies and people of the state in prayers to see the end of armed banditry facing Zamfara state in particular and the nation in general” the communique read in part.
