The Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Zamfara state has suspended it chairman, Col. Bala Mande (rtd) for alleged anti-party activities.

But the embattled chairman Mande has said the suspension was a joke, saying “am still in charge”.

In a statement signed by the state PDP Publicity Secretary, Abba Bello said Mande was suspended for alleged anti-party activities.

The party further explained that the suspended chairman has been conducting the affairs of the party without the involvement of the State Working Committee.

The statement read: “This is to inform the general public, and ardent members of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that the Chairman of our party, Colonel Bala Mande (rtd) has been suspended for anti- party activities.

“This followed the conduct of affairs of the party without the involvement of the State Working Committee and the leader of the party, which is a flagrant violation of the constitution of our party”.

“The suspension has become necessary to forestall the abuse of power and the derailment of the rules governing the running of the party”.

“The suspension is for a period of one month to allow the Working Committee constitute a panel of inquiry into the allegation”.

“In view of the foregoing, the Vice Chairman Kaura Namoda zone, Mallam Ali Namoda will over see the activities of the party for the period of his suspension”.

“Therefore, the State Working Committee has inaugurated a panel of inquiry to investigate this allegation”.

Reacting to the suspension on the telephone, Mande said, it was a joke.

“My suspension is a joke, please forget about them”.“I am still the PDP chairman in Zamfara state and I am currently in Kebbi state for an assignment given to me by the party”.
