A group, Civil Society for Good Governance (CSGG) has called on the federal government to key into peace initiatives by the zamfara state Governor, Bello Matawalle.
They also applauded the governor for embarking on RUGA project, saying the unity of Nigeria is non negotiable.
Addressing a press conference Friday in Gusau, the Executive Director, CSGG and Executive Director initiatives for Leadership and Economic Watch in Nigeria, Comrade Splendor Agbonkpolor advised state Governors to embark on projects that has direct bearing to their people.
The civil society who were in zamfara state for assessment tour, commended the effort of Governor Bello Mattawale for embarking on RUGA project in the state.
According to the CSGG, RUGA project is one of the best option for peace initiatives, stressing that it will provide unity among citizens.
“RUGA project is the best option, I want to encourage other state Governors to embark on such project that has direct bearing to people, unity of Nigeria is non negotiable”.
He said the construction of RUGA by Governor Mattawale was a road map to peace initiatives.
“We called on the federal government to support the present administration on peace initiatives, what we saw in zamfara RUGA is quite different from what we think before our coming to the state”.
The executive director initiatives for leadership and economic watch in Nigeria, observed there was need for the state to embark on tree planting campaign to arrest the issue of desertification in the state.
applauded the present administration for it’s commitment towards inproving the living standard of it’s people.
