(SINL NIGERIA) Health officials in Zamfara State met recently to address ongoing challenges in the State’s drug supply system.
The meeting, led by Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammed Maradun and Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency’s, DMA, Executive Secretary, Pharmacist Sani Bello, brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies to improve the availability of essential medicines.
This was contained in statement issued by the spokesman of Zamfara State ministry of Health, Suleiman Isah.
According to the statement, a presentation highlighted the agency’s progress and identified areas requiring improvement.
“To address these challenges, several key action points were agreed upon”, he added.
“The pre-qualification of drugs and consumables suppliers will be conducted in the third week of January”
“A Sustainable Drugs Supply System, SDSS Steering Committee meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday”
“Additionally, an Instead Team committee meeting will be held next week to further discuss strategies”
“To expedite the process of improving drug availability, health facilities will be encouraged to patronize the DMA immediately”
The statement added that it was further deliberated that to ensure the long-term sustainability of the drug supply system, a weekly monitoring system will be implemented to track progress and identify potential issues.
“By implementing these measures, the Zamfara State Ministry of Health and the DMA aim to enhance the availability of essential medicines, improve patient care, and strengthen the overall health system in the state.
