The Plateau State high court has reinstated the deposed Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area, Hon Joshua Laven Ubandoma to complete his three years tenure.

Delivering the Judgement on Tuesday, Justice Ishaku Kunda noted that Ubandoma has not spent the required three years in office and so should be allowed to complete his tenure.

“He said, “The tenure of the Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area, Joshua Ubandoma will elapse in  October, 2022 and should be reinstated as the elected Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.”

Justice Kunda pointed out that the relief sought by defense counsel can’t yield any positive result because there was abuse of by the defendants PLASIEC, saying while conducting election for the chairmanship seat had flouted the court order .

Kunda emphasized that the tenure of Langtang north Local Government  tenure will expire on the 9th October, 2022, so whatever decision taken by the PLASIEC is null and void.

“The Landmarks judgement is a declaratory victory to democracy because election was conducted by PLASIEC in 2018, a year after the Executive Governor Simon Bako Lalong  sworn him as the Executive Chairman of Langtang North LGA in 2019  which tenure expired on the 9th October, 2022.”

“The statutory order to conduct election in the Chairmanship seat of Langtang North is irrelevant and didn’t applied to law guiding the PLASIEC in the state, the tenure of Langtang north embattled chairman has not expire until 2022.”

Reacting to the Judgement, Joshua Ubandoma appreciated the judiciary for rising up to its solemn responsibility of ensuring that justice prevails.
