The Zamfara state branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has charged lawyers to be dedicated, professional and honest to service.
This comes as the state chapter of NBA honoured six lawyers including the first Senior Advocte of Nigeria (SAN) in the state.
Addressing newsmen on Sunday in Gusau, shortly after the closing ceremony of 2022 law week in the state, the branch chairman of NBA, Barrister Junaidu Abubakar disclosed that the week long ceremony was to sanitize the profession and highlight their duties to people in the state.
He explained that the branch has conducted series of lectures, symposia, friendly football mach and dinner for NBA members, friends and well-wishers in the state.
According to him, the branch used the 2022 law week to honour six outstanding legal professionals who dedicated themselves to humanity in the state and nation at large.
He called on general public to see lawyers as friends who are always struggling to ensure justice for all irrespective of religion, tribes and region.
“Our work is to ensure justice for all, I call on the general public to see our profession as service to humanity”.
Those honoured included the first SAN in the state, Abdulaziz Sani Mohammed SAN, Secretary Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related offences Commission (ICPC ), Professor Musa Usman Abubakar for their outstanding achievements.
Others include chief Judge of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu OFR, Justice Lawal Garba of the supreme court, Shaawanatu Mohammed Ahmad Esq as the most active female lawyer, kamaluddeen Mohammed Esq as the most active young lawyer and AA Jibril Esq as most senior lawyer in the state.
