The Director-General National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Idris Musa on Thursday came under heavy criticism as the Senate committee on Ecology and Climate change took him to the cleaners over unreconciled records.
This comes as the Senate committee warned that it will not hesitate to sanction two agencies, the Great Green Wall and the Director General of Department of Forestry if they fail to appear before it on Thursday next week.
Speaking at the Investigative hearing on the overview of Internal Generated Revenue (IGR), Lodgement to Treasury Single Account (TSA), 2021 Projection and details of projects and contractors, chairman of the committee, Senator Hassan Nasiha (Zamfara Central) told Musa to reapear on Thursday over unsatisfactory presentation.
Nasiha lamented poor, irreconcilable presentation, and wondered if Musa had read the script before he presented it to the committee.
He said “We will not fold our arms and allow you to misbehave and embarrass us.
“We are not playing here, did you read this report before coming” Nasiha asked?
“I am not convince about your IGR, no cause to dribble us on valuation. Your presentation not the best.
“We are not ready to accept controversial account, we won’t like to disgrace our agencies.
“We are give you a week to represent, we are not here to harass anyone” Nasiha added.
Also speaking, Senator Ibrahim Danbaba (Sokoto south) reiterated the poor presentation, which was full of errors.
He said “I don’t know who prepared this document, Mr. Director General you need competent people to assist you”.
Meanwhile, Musa apologized to the committee for the errors in the document.
According to him “We shall go and look at the 2017, 2018 and 2019 and delineate the record.
“We are going to look at it on yearly basis, we want Thursday next week to reconcile our records” Musa said.
Apparently, dissatisfied with NOSDRA, the committee gave the agency one week to tidy up and reappear before it.
The committee on Ecology and Climate change seek to investigate among others international affiliates, donor agencies and receivables from 2019 to date.
