BREAKING: Buhari relaxes lockdown of Lagos, FCT, Ogun, locks down Kano

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday ordered phased and gradual relaxation of the lockdown order on Lagos, FCT and Ogun to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The President, in a broadcast to the Nation followed the socio-economic impacts of the lockdown on Nigerians.

He however said the relaxation of the lockdown will take effect from Monday, May 4.

Meanwhile the President ordered total lockdown of Kano State for two weeks, saying the the measure was to enable the Federal Government contain the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

According to him: “With regards to Kano, I have directed the enforcement of a total lockdown for a period of two weeks effective immediately.

“The Federal Government shall deploy all the necessary human, material and technical resources to support the State in controlling and containing the pandemic and preventing the risk of further spread to neighbouring States.”
