Corps member killed on Kaduna/Abuja highway served in Katsina -NYSC

The Management of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has said contrary to story trending on the social media saying erroneously that a corps member serving in FCT, Abuja was killed in a crossfire between security operatives and bandits on Kaduna/Abuja highway on Friday, the NYSC said the victim, Aliyu Muhammad actually served in Katsina.


A statement on Monday by Eddy MegwaDirector, Press and Public Relations saidAliyu Muhammad was a corps member mobilised for service under the 2021 Batch ‘A’ service year. 


He served in Katsina State and was successfully discharged in February, 2022. 

The statement read in full:”Management of the National Youth Sevice Corps has taken note of a story trending on the social media stating erroneously that a Corps Member serving in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja was killed in a crossfire between security operatives and bandits on Kaduna/Abuja highway on Friday, 13th May, 2022.

“The true position is that the unfortunate victim, Aliyu Muhammad was a Corps Member mobilised for service under the 2021 Batch ‘A’ service year. He served in Katsina State  and was successfully discharged in February, 2022. 


“The Management commiserates with the family of Ex-Corps Member Aliyu Muhammad over the tragic loss. From our records, he was a diligent and patriotic Corps Member who served the Nation conscientiously. 


“May God grant his soul eternal repose”.
