(SINL NIGERIA) The Jigawa State Government has announced the passing of Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar, mother of Governor Malam Umar Namadi.
According to a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Muhammad Gumel, Hajiya Maryam passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
The news of her passing comes as a shock, coinciding with Governor Namadi’s official trip to China, where he is engaged in efforts to foster economic ties and attract investments to the state.
Despite his absence, Governor Namadi has conveyed his heartfelt grief and appreciation for the outpouring of condolences from across the state and beyond.
In accordance with Islamic traditions, the burial rites for Hajiya Maryam took place on Wednesday at 4:30 pm in her hometown of Kafin Hausa.
Dignitaries, family, and well-wishers gathered to pay their respects and offer support to the grieving family.
The governor’s family has requested prayers for the peaceful repose of Hajiya Maryam’s soul.
