The National Assembly committee on local content, Petroleum downstream and legislative compliance on Tuesday said it will not hesitate to sanction the GMD, NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari and D. G. NIMASA, Hon. Dakuku Peterside if they fail to appear before it.

The ultimatum followed thier failure to appear before the committee investigating the Breach of Nigerian Laws by Foreign Vessels in Coastal Shipping of Petroleum  Products in Downstream Sector of the Nigerian Maritime Industry.

Recall that at the initial hearing, which NNPC was also absent, Dr. Mkgeorge Onyung, President of Shipowners Association of Nigeria, SOAN told committee many of the ordeals his members pass through in the hands of NNPC in the award of contracts in favour of foreign vessel owners.

However, at the rescheduled meeting, NNPC and NIMASA were represented, but the committee walked out their representatives.
