The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State has endorsed the Management committee Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon. Gideon Dung Dandereng as the party’s consensus candidate for the October Local Government Elections in the State.
Chairmen of the APC from the 20 federal wards purchased and presented the expression of interest and nomination form to Hon. Dandereng to contest the Council polls.
Former Senator representing Plateau North, Sen. Davou D B Zang who presented the expression of interest and nomination form said Hon.
Dandereng was nominated as candidate of the party through a direct primaries election.
“I want to inform you that Hon. Gideon Davou Dandereng is our consensus candidate for APC in the forth coming Local Government Elections in the state. We have met as a party and also as people from Gyel District where the Chairmanship position was zone to.”
Media Consultant of the Divine Campaign Organization, Hon. Ayuba Pam Dangwong who briefed Journalists before the presentation of the nomination form said election was not conducted in the council area in 2018 due to Insecurity.
He applauded Governor Simon Lalong who declared that the October 2021 local government election will hold in all the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
“We are happy today to further note that Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong has come out to say elections into all the 17 Local Government Councils will hold after review of the security situation in these council areas.
“This decision by our Governor, has no doubt revived partisanship and increased interests in direct grassroots participation in the electoral process, not only in the affected council areas but the state and Nigeria in General.
“Aware and pursuant to the states Electoral guidelines, our party, the ruling APC has released timetable leading to October council election and stated that nomination of party flag bearers shall be by consensus where all stakeholders of the party agree.
“We are delighted to equally say that critical stakeholders from Gyel District, earlier met and took a decision where they unanimously endorsed the aspiration and candidature of Hon. Gideon Dung Dandereng.”
The Management Committee Chairman, Hon. Gideon Davou Dandereng appreciated the people for endorsing him as candidate of the party and expressed optimism that the party will win the council poll.
He said if elected, he will focus on addressing issues of Insecurity and to revamp the economy of the council area for the prosperity of the people.
