Chairman, House of Representatives committee on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Yusuf Buba, has pledged closer co-operation and collaboration with the Embassy of China in Abuja towards strengthening bilateral and economic ties between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China in the post-COVID 19 era.
The lawmaker stated this in Abuja when he received the new Chinese Deputy Chief of Mission and the plaintiff Android Counselor, Mr Zhang Yi, in his National Assembly office.
The statement was made available to newsmen by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Nkem Anyata-Lafia, on Saturday in Abuja.
Buba, while pointing out the long friendship ties that exist between Nigeria and China at the levels of Government to Government, people to people and business to business, said it was time to expand the frontiers of the very robust relations and pledged the readiness of his committee to lead the renewed charge from the nation’s Parliament.
The lawmaker, who represents Gombi/Hong Federal Constituencies of Adamawa State in the House of Representatives, welcomed the new envoy to Nigeria.
Earlier, while thanking Buba for the audience offered to them at very short notice, Mr Yi lauded the co-operation and collaboration the Embassy of China in Abuja and the many Chinese businesses and corporations across Nigeria have continued to enjoy over the years.
He re-iterated his commitment to deepening the ties between the both countries and stressed the importance of Parliament in the renewed vision of their Embassy in Abuja.
Mr Yi was accompanied in the visit by Mr. DU Sheng, Director of Political Section and Mr. NIE Yacheng, First Secretary, Political Section, both of the Embassy of China in Abuja.
